Description
This beautiful Tiger Swallowtail discovered this thistle at an orchard just around the corner from my home in Maryland.
This species of swallowtail is native to eastern North America and is one of the most familiar butterflies in the eastern United States. Its wingspan can range in measurement from 3.1 to 5.5 inches. Common habitats include woodlands, fields, rivers, creeks, roadsides, and gardens. It will also stray into urban parks and city yards.
