From the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt to the fools and court jesters of Europe, clowns have been bringing joy and laughter to the world for centuries.
Often gifted musicians, mimics, dancers, and acrobats, these comedians have been a mainstay in American culture for generations. Two most notable are Ronald McDonald and Bozo the clown.
As a fan of Steven King novels, the clown that most comes to my mind is Pennywise - the sinister clown from the best seller "IT." Perhaps this is where my coulrophobia (irrational fear of clowns) comes from.
