Description
I love Kestrels. Not only are they the smallest and most common raptor in North America, they are also one of the most colorful. I photographed this little gem in a wildlife sanctuary in Rockville, Maryland.
Although the Kestrel is much smaller than most raptors, its long been associated with the sport of falconry. That said, concern has surfaced among some falconers that the diminutive size and relatively delicate nature of the American Kestrel make it unsuitable for use by the novice.
