Description
A heartwarming greeting featuring a Carolina Wren. Every year, a pair of Carolina Wrens takes up residence on our front porch. Sometimes with questionable success. Still, these bright charismatic birds remain undeterred.
Near homes, they're versatile nesters, making use of discarded flowerpots, mailboxes, propane-tank covers, and a variety of other items. Their nests have even been found in old coat pockets and boots.
Found in the eastern half of the US, southern Canada, and in the Northeast of Mexico, these birds have a wide range. While insects and spiders make up the bulk of this wren’s diet, they have been known to occasionally eat lizards, frogs, and snake.
