Description
I recently visited Cape Neddick Maine and stumbled upon a beautiful daffodil bed in full bloom. There is something light hearted and fun about daffodils.
Daffodils announce beginning of the spring and waking of nature. They are one of the rare species of plants that are able to successfully grow through the snow.
When giving daffodils as a gift, be sure to give many. A bunch of daffodils offered as a gift ensures happiness and represents good fortune. However, an offering of just a single daffodil predicts misfortune.
Daffodils are often referred to as Narcissus, named after the mythological boy, Narcissus, who loved to admire his own beauty. You may also have heard the daffodil poem by William Wordsworth, "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud."
